Nido Environment (Infants)

The SpringStone Nido classrooms are happy and have a peaceful environment. The Nido (Italian for “nest”) infant program welcomes children as young as 6 weeks of age. It is a place where each child is treated as an individual to be nurtured with love and respect. Teachers speak in gentle tones and provide a comfortable and loving atmosphere to our babies.

Upon entering the environment, you will find a room that is designed for mobility and fosters growth with age-appropriate materials that build and challenge cognitive and sensory abilities. The room has a natural simplistic feel with soft lighting yet has characteristics of order and space for freedom and movement.

Toddler Program

We believe our toddler program sets the foundation for their future. Your child will be learning from day one. Our focus is building independence, a sense of order, and allowing the child to explore in a nurturing and safe environment.

We approach toilet training with patience and respect for the child. Toilet training is part of our daily routine.

The children are free to move about the classroom and choose their own activities. This autonomy encourages confidence and decision-making skills. This approach prepares the child to develop self-confidence both socially and emotionally.

Preschool Program

It is our main goal in our three to six year old program is to get your child ready for kindergarten. The five distinct areas of a Montessori classroom are:

  • Practical Life

  • Sensorial

  • Language

  • Mathematics

  • Cultural

Teachers give lessons individually or in small groups, allowing for personalized instruction based on each child's readiness and interest. Children are encouraged to do things for themselves, from dressing and cleaning up to choosing their work and managing their time.

Our preschool classrooms have mixed ages of children 3 years to 6 years. The purpose of a multi-age Montessori classroom is to support individualized learning, provide leadership opportunities, and encourage social development in a natural, community-like environment.

Our experienced and certified teachers place a strong emphasis on math and reading. We also offer several different enrichment programs, among them; Languages, art, music, gardening, and sign language.

In addition to academics, we help build life skills that last a lifetime. For instance, using polite words properly, greeting one another, and how to solve conflicts among friends. In Montessori, this is called Grace and Courtesy.
